locations/sets

These choices of locations are based on the narrative of my song. Some of my music video will also be a time-lapse of the sky. I will try to show an urban feel to the majority of the video as the narrative is of that genre. The field will be mainly used at the start of the video as my planned narrative starts out like that. It will then move into a house setting for another section of the video. The alley way will be used for short sections of the film cutting back from the narrative, however i shall mainly use the field for the majority of the video. These locations will be important to the narrative of the video.

Prop ideas

I shall plan to use these prop items in my music video. These props will be used at various points within my video. I chose these props based upon the lyrics and narrative of my video. As the most noticeable words in this song is "stay high" i chose these props as based on that and how my narrative plans out. Even though i will not make my artist actually smoke and take drugs i shall still try feature them in my video as they run with the narrative and lyrics.

The props I have chosen to use will have great effect on the video. The cigarettes reflect how bad her life is going at the moment as she is resorting to damaging herself by smoking. I will try emphasise this in the video by adding a slow motion effect onto it to highlight how troubled her mind is. As well as this, I am going to get a few shots of her drinking to emphasise her troubled thoughts. Drinking is also another severe result of a break up with a boyfriend which my artist has gone through in the narrative of the song.

Chosen camera

My chosen camera to complete my filming is a GoPro hero 3+. This camera is very good and very easy to use. It has a very wide frame size and is easy to change the angles as the camera is so small. Another reason why i used it is because i have many mounts that the camera can go onto this means that i can vary the shots i use. I have a chest mount which attaches a camera to the chest of my artist. It allows me to film a constant close up of my artist which gave me more variety into my filming. However one bad thing about using this camera is that its hard to see what you are filming as there is no screen to show what you're filming. However i have managed to get around this. I have downloaded an app on my smart phone that links to my GoPro which allows me to see what i am filming.

Costume

I have drafted 3 different costumes for my main artist (Viccy). These designs were based on what the song is about and the background behind the song. I have also looked at the original video and looked at the themes and conventions of the mise-en-scene of that video and based my draft ideas off of that. These costumes represent a bad image of girls as the costumes are very revealing and provocative. Costume 3 is the most sexual and erotic as it is the most revealing and fits well with my video genre and song story line. However costumes 1 and 2 offer a different view as a typical girl would wear this outfit. I believe all costumes would suit this video as pop/electropop, as this type of genre features this lifestyle and costume background in most of their videos. 

Digipak inspirations

I have been researching around at some online digipaks and have been inspired by these ones i have found. The bottom one is aesthetically pleasing and my favourite cover out of them all. I will try mix all of these into my final digipak. I have also been inspired by the top two as they look like a similar genre to the song i am doing (Tove-lo, Habits). I will also keep looking around to see if i can get any more ideas for my digipak designs as i want to make mine as good as possible.

Possible camera angles

When creating a video you have to think about what is going to be filmed. I have thought about a lot of camera angles that i could use. I think the majority of my video will be filmed handheld. This is because the story of the song is about the artists life being shaken up by a relationship. As a handheld camera wont be still i believe that this is appropriate as it will be shaky and uneven which could represent her state of emotions and mental health. I know this gif doesn't relate to a music video, i still believe it has some correlation to the effect of a handheld camera.

Another angle i thought of using is a wide and medium shot. This will be mainly to show my artist walking around the field. This is to show how wide everything is compared to her inner struggles. The wide angle shows how small she is compared to everything around her. This angle of shot will be used a lot in the video as i like the effect it creates.

I will have one main artist for my song as it only consists of one singer. I will create a brief overview of my artist in this section.

My artist is called Viccy Jones. She is 23 years old and was born in London and has been a popular artist for over 5 years. Her genre is mainly R&B and alternative rock. The song i have chosen is about her going through a recent break up and trying to find as many distractions to get over her break up. This song has been written off her personal experience. She has had a lot of boyfriends and relationships and has been messed around by a lot of boyfriends and other people. She is a driven person and wants to improve her life and this song is the start of her turn around.




Viccy is an avid shopper and loves to be on top of the latest trends on the internet. She is consistent at tweeting and posting on Instagram as she does not want to let her fans down. She likes to 'splash her cash' and show off her wealth on her social media websites. She likes to interact with her fans and likes to get involved with them doing signing sessions and a "greet and meet" sessions. She hosts a lot of parties with her friends and likes to stay relaxed and not be a work based artist. However, she has been on the bad side of the press when they released an article about her doing drugs. This lowered her confidence as the news affected her and her career. She is still a song based person and still enjoys singing and performing.

Final song choice

My chosen song for my music video is Tove lo - Habits (Stay high).

I chose this song as i am familiar with this genre and style of music. This means that i wont be finding it extremely difficult to know what to do when filming. If i chose a song/genre i am not familiar with, then i will not know where to start and how to story board my filming. This song also opens up a lot of opportunities when filming as this song is very diverse in its genre. It has an aspect o electropop, pop, R&B and electric. This means that i can broaden my ideas when filming for my video as the genres within the video is so diverse. The song itself is about a recent breakup/event that the artist is trying to get over. This can help me guide my filming easily as i can base my filming around this story line. I will try operate my filming around the story board i create as it is a story line that i could operate my filming around easily.

Audience research

I have conducted a questionnaire and have got useful answers that will help me figure out my target audience for my song. I have designed a person that would listen to my music/watch my music video. They would also listen to my genre of music frequently. I have got this idea from my questionnaire which helped me to design my ideal person that would watch my music video.

My viewer is called called Emily. She is 18 years old and has many hobbies. She likes to constantly be in with the latest fashion trends and technology. She owns the latest Iphone and constantly uses social media like twitter, Instagram and snap chat. She constantly listens to music when travelling. She has a job at Top shop in her local high street and gets a bus thee and back whenever she is working. Other than her job, she also gains money from baby sitting in her village and doing house chores. She spends all her income from her work on the latest fashion trends and going out with her friends. She has a boyfriend and enjoys getting together with her family.



I believe that this is the kind of person that would watch my music video. This has all come from the questionnaire that i made and conducted. This is important as i need to identify what people will like from my music video.
